News Update

Quite a few changes have been made at City and Moon over the last few months, it's been a hectic year so far and, well I can't believe it's already nearing the end of August.... So here we go -

Phone Line is Back!

After moving to our new premises back in April we now finally have a new office number, for any Backline, audio, DJ gear hire enquiries please get in touch with us on -01173291616

Will Jakeway joins the team -

After working as a backline hire rep at John Henry's and then as Artist Relations at Blackstar amps for the past 5 years Will decided to head west and join City and Moon. As an experienced rental rep, backline technician and with years of direct experience dealing with tour managers and artists Will has proved a great addition. Drop him a line on the office number above or email on will@cityandmoonbackline.co.uk with any enquiries.

More New Stock -

We've added a lot of new stock this year, too much to list, there's new Nord Stage pianos, Moog synths, analogue drum sequencers, various MIDI controllers from MPKs and Novation controllers to the excellent Ableton Push, multiple Orange guitar and bass amps and cabs, more Ampeg stacks, Marshall stacks, more Tama and Gretsch drum kits, 3KVA Step down transformers with US extension leads..... The list goes on.
Rest assured, whatever backline your tour requires there's a very good chance we have it in stock.

Tour Bus Parking Upgrade -

We can now offer wifi as well as shore power. All for £120 for 24 hours, 10 mins from Bristol city centre.

Busy Busy Festival Season keeps rolling on.....

A couple of August's main festivals we covered were Boardmasters down in beautiful Cornwall and Boomtown Fair in Winchester.
City and Moon were supplying a huge amount of backline on both events including a large number of artist specific riders. This was our second year handling backline on Boomtown and our first handling the larger stages, including the Town Centre with headliners Sleaford Mods, Enter Shikari and Limp Bizkit.

It was our third straight year handling all on site backline at Boardmasters. Quite a busy weekend but our crew of techs and drivers handled everything perfectly.

It's been a really fulfilling few months, now on to the next part of the touring calendar.
Hope everyone is in good health and keeping busy 😉👍

*Big News! New Premises, Tour Bus Parking*

Big news day, City and Moon Backline has finally moved premises. It has been a year or so in the making but we finally found somewhere suitable and took the opportunity to grab it before festival season kicks off. We are now located in BS5 near to the centre of Bristol, a stone's throw from Temple Meads train station and a 5-10 Min drive from the M32 and M4 motorways. The new unit offers much more office space but more importantly a much more usable warehouse and yard space, we've now got a proper prep area for the new audio hire stock and can also offer tour bus parking facilities. The parking facilities include a large yard space with security lights and CCTV coverage, multiple 16 and 32 amp power outlets, outdoor water supply and in the near future, a shower room for visiting drivers and bands. We're already taking parking bookings, drop us an email for info on availability and a quote.

Our new address is - Unit 1 Netham Industrial Estate, Bristol, BS5 9PJ

We'd like to thank everyone that helped make 2017 so great.

2017 Was pretty good to us at City and Moon... We've toured all over the place in the last 12 months, handled backline tech duties for a number of acts both large and up and coming and supplied equipment to a vast amount of different shows from small intimate in store events to main stages across huge festivals. It's been educational, exhausting and really really enjoyable. We've managed to grow our list of Festival clients and started moving more and more in to the touring world.

At the end of 2017 we really started to up our game and to help make sure your tours go as smoothly as possible we started taking on more and more audio hires. So now, as well as backline and splitter vans you can also get your full audio package from us too, this includes radio IEM systems and microphones. See the AUDIO HIRE page for more details and please do drop us an email with your requirements.

So as 2018 rolls in we'd just like to say thank you to anyone that used our services this past year, we really appreciate the business and hope to see you again in the coming year either out on the road, in a rehearsal studio or in our green room, drinking all the good coffee...

End of summer news and updates...

boomtown.jpeg

2017 was our busiest summer yet, at City and Moon we've expanded on the festivals we've covered year after year and 2017 was even better than 2016. Adding Boomtown this year was one highlight among many, along with covering a boat load of backline for Jersey Live and being able to offer a much broader selection of backline to our repeat customers throughout the UK we haven't stopped for months now. As the year has gone on we've added more and more backline to our hire stock to accommodate larger artist requirements.

A few notable additions to the stock a full Tama Starclassic Bubinga drum kit in a Tigerwood fade finish, shell sizes are 22" Bass drum with 10" / 12" Rack toms and 14" and 16" Floor toms. There is a selection of matching snare drums in various sizes and Tama Road Pro series hardware to choose from including Iron Cobra single and double bass drum pedals. Sticking with drum stock we've added another DW Collectors Series but this time in the exotic wood range, Olive Ash Burl shells in 22" Bass drum, 12" Rack tom and 14" and 16" Floor toms. There is also a larger selection of Paiste cymbals and Zildjian A and K Custom range full cymbal sets to choose from.

As we've steadily expanded the drum dept we've been bringing in some choice pieces in synthesisers and guitar combos to match. Multiple Fender Hot Rod Deville in both 212 and 410 models and vintage Marshall JMP combos along side a range of Akai MIDI controllers and Moog synths.

Additional discounts on Touring Backline packages.

As festival season winds down and we've started putting out more tour packages we've decided to offer a section of our hire stock at reduced rates to help with those tight winter budgets. We've put together a selection of generic backline setups made up of our Gretsch Renown Maple drum kits and Gibraltar 9000 Series hardware packs along with Paiste cymbal sets, then a choice of valve guitar combos and Ampeg bass rigs to suit your requirements. For further info or a very competitive quote please EMAIL your tech rider over to us.

Adam Richens joins the team.

New backline hire stock update

Over the last couple of months we've added to every area of our hire stock, we're investing even more to help us better cater to our growing list of touring clients while still being able to supply the large festival scene in the south west and beyond. Please have a look below for some of our more notable recent additions and get in touch via the Contact Us page for more information on cost and availability.

Drum Dept

Our drum stock has increased considerably since last year with additional Ludwig and Gretsch Renown kits being added to our existing shell packs. We can now offer any number of shell sizes and configurations to accommodate any playing style. We've also added a few select snare drums to stock, a brand new Ludwig 14x5 Black Beauty with imperial lugs, a Ludwig 14x6.5 LM402T Supraphonic hammered chrome snare, and the big fella - the Gretsch 14x08 6 ply mahogany Swamp Dawg. We're also now offering the Porter & Davies BC2 engine and throne, the best in tactile drum monitoring and a regular on the touring circuit.

In more drum related news we're currently waiting on a large shipment of DW Collectors Series drum kits and 9000 Series hardware which will be with us in the next couple of weeks, but more on that when they arrive.

Keys

Our stock of digital stage pianos, Synthesisers, workstations and MIDI controllers is ever expanding to cater to our clients requirements. Recently we've added another Nord Stage 88 / Nord Electro 5D / Yamaha's music workstation Motif XF7 / Korg's miniature and hugely popular 37 note analogue polyphonic synth, the Minilogue / Roland GAIA synth SH-01 plus a couple of additional USB MIDI controllers in the Korg Triton Taktile and M-Audio CODE61.

Guitar and Bass amps / FX

We've added a selection of industry standard guitar and bass amps recently. There's a few more Marshall JCM2000 DSL and TSL heads with matching 1960 4x12 celestion loaded speaker cabs. Sticking with Marshall we've also added a more vintage piece in the JMP Master Model 50 Watt Lead MK2 2x12 all valve combo, this guy offers some real old school Marshall crunch.  We can also now offer multiples of the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III / Fender Hot Rod Deville 210 and 410 models plus new Alnico Blue loaded Vox AC30 and AC15 combos, all available immediately. We've also added a Moog Mooger Fooger MF101 Envelope Filter pedal to our FX section, bought in for the Thundercat tour this is now back in stock and available for hire.

In bass land we've simply added to the always popular Ampeg rigs with another SVT4PRO stereo bass head plus various 8x10 and 4x10 speaker cabinets, flightcased and ready to go.

April 2016

We are looking for stage crew / backline techs and splitter van drivers.

At City and Moon we are looking for crew and technical staff to get involved over the coming festival season. Get in touch with Chris or Loui in the office to discuss. Experienced and non experienced both welcome but a background in and a passion for music is obviously a huge benefit as is the willingness to work hard and learn.

Van drivers must be over 25 years old to drive the 9 seater splitters.

* Studio sitters wanted *

Also, as our studio is starting to get busier we are looking for studio sitters. Times can vary and sessions often run late, an ability to set up and trouble shoot backline equipment is a must. The role can involve a fair amount of heavy lifting and requires a positive and helpful attitude. Experience in other studios is beneficial but not a deal breaker. Drop your CV over to chris@cityandmoonbackline.co.uk if you think you're the right person for the position.

2015 Comes to an end....

Over the course of the last year City and Moon Backline has been proud to be involved in some great festivals in and around Bristol plus many tours all over the UK and Europe. It's been a year of expansion and investment for us. We started the year covering tour supplies for bands such as RIDE and Gaz Coombes and quickly moved on to providing backline for Portishead, Seun Kuti, GOAT amongst others and supplying full backline over multiple stages for many festivals including Simple Things, Love Saves The Day, Grillstock, Tokyo World, SW7, LakeFest and many others. As all this was going on we found time to tour Europe with Roni Size Reprazent as backline tech support and were involved in some incredible shows, the absolute highlight being the Arcadia show in Bristol's own Queen's Square. 2015 saw our client base expand considerably and as 2016 starts we are looking to improve all our services and take on ever more exciting projects. Our hire stock has grown to more than 3 times it's size since January 2015 and now includes an excellent range of vintage equipment to complement all of our more modern day items. We have taken on a much larger warehouse space to accommodate the new stock and to help create a more efficient working environment and can now prep multiple jobs at the same time.

We'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who booked our services for their shows over the past year and ultimately helped us to improve the level of service we can provide. It's been a great year, we've worked with some wonderful teams so again, thank you.

Sanctum Event Bristol / Temple Church

City and Moon were very happy to be involved in the excellent Sanctum at Bristol's Temple Church. We provided all in house backline and DJ equipment for the entire duration. Sanctum turned out to be an incredibly diverse experience taking in performance art, DJ sets, full bands with orchestral performers and chanting. From the organisers website -

"Between 6pm on 29th Oct until 6pm on 21st Nov, Sanctum hosted a continuous programme of sound over 552 hours, sustained by performers, musicians and bands in a temporary structure within the shell of Temple Church, Bristol. Sanctum was Theaster Gates first public project in the uk, produced by Situations, as part of Bristol 2015 European Green Capital. "
